Welcome to the home of the Durban International Kayak-Polo Tournament!

This is an annual event held either at the picturesque Umzinyathi Canoe Club at Shongweni Dam, or at the University of KwaZulu Natal swimming pool in Pietermaritzburg.

Shongweni Dam is an idyllic venue is situated in the centre of a Game Reserve, boasts great facilities, and is only a 40 minute drive away from King Shaka International Airport and less than 30 minutes from the beaches of the South Coast. It offers accommodation options ranging from a luxury lodge to tented camps, or camping on the banks of the dam, and is a 15 minute drive from local bed & breakfasts. During the weekend you can view rhino, buffalo, waterbuck, wildebeest, warthog, zebra, a range of antelope and a variety of birds around the Reserve – and you’ll have to chase away the cheeky local monkeys!

The event is hosted annually at Umzinyathi Canoe Club, Shongweni Dam, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. You can find out more about Umzinyathi Canoe Club, and see photographs of the beautiful venue, on the Umzinyathi website.

The 2018 event will, however, once again be hosted at the UKZN Pietermaritzburg Swimming Pool due to current challenges at Shongweni Dam.
